Fe Gallery Celebration on Friday!

Fe Gallery in Lawrenceville is turning 5 years old and is celebrating with a party and art auction Friday (that's tomorrow) at 8 pm! There will be works by hundreds of artists for sale, including one of my etchings. I won't be able to make it to the party, but you should go!
More information here.

New work!

I recently met up with Kyle Fischer, fellow artist, printmaker, and former Utrecht employee, and was inspired by his beautiful and ephemeral mixed media work to return to collage and mixed-media drawing as a way to play around with and think through ideas.

Here are some small-scale collages,

and one doodle from the sketchbook.

Be absorbed in sweet memories then you will be a part of the nature. You can feel comfortable from the natural materials. The nature gives you relaxation and composure. Stay in the nature.

At least, that is what the label on these adorable clothespins says. Flown in fresh from Singapore courtesy of Dave.

A free resource for artists

Last weekend, I attended a "Workshop for the Working Artist" at Fe Gallery in Lawrenceville. One of the panelists was Susan Blackman, the Director of Arts Programs for the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, an arts organization in Allegheny County that does everything from handle ProArts ticket sales to working with artists to write grants and get funding for public projects.
Ms. Blackman told us about a free web service of the GPAC, the Pittsburgh Artist Registry. It's basically an online directory where hundreds of local artists of every kind have uploaded resumes, contact information, statements, and portfolios of their work. It's completely free, and a pretty handy networking tool, so I decided I would go ahead and make one for myself.
